The Écrits : 1966 : Jacques Lacan , published in 1966, gave rise to many invitations to talk about it. Jacques Lacan sometimes accepted the invitations and went to various provincial towns and also visited Italy where he gave three lectures. (Information on their publication, Autres Écrits: 2001 : Jacques Lacan or here )  To quote, Jacques-Alain Miller’s Preface to ‘My Teaching’:  Jacques Lacan found himself faced with audiences who were not familiar with what he called his ‘same old story’. He improvised, described his difficulties with his colleagues, and expounded the concepts of psychoanalysis in the most accessible form.

Jacques Lacan visited Strasbourg, on 10th June 1967. There was a large Lacanian group in Strasbourg. It developed from the mid-1950s onwards around Lucien Israel, a professor of psychiatry and a psychoanalyst. It was his idea to invite Lacan to Strasbourg.
