Reference by Jacques Lacan

Jacques Lacan refers to this paper in Seminar IV : 12th December 1956.   See Paragraph 14 & 28 of the Earl’s Court Collective’s translation.

From para 14 (provisional translation) : Alice Balint tells us…, that these things are done as they have always been done -, there, where the relationship is natural -, that is, in the wild, – where the child’s contact with the mother is maintained.

Seminar IV : 6th March 1957 : para 31 : I am not the first to challenge this idea of the child’s world, seen as a pure state of suspension at the edges of the organ that satisfies her, that is, the one that feeds her. Everything Alice Balint, for instance, writes and articulates serves to articulate differently – less convincingly, I think – what I am telling you.

See Seminar IV : The Object Relation & Freudian Structures 1956-1957 : begins 21st November 1956 : Jacques Lacan for Earl’s Court Collectives’ translations.
